It sat inside a folder titled BR_MAINT_UTILITY_SECRET on a mirrored drive from a defunct Japanese technician's portal. There was no "ReadMe" file. No installer. Just the executable and a single, low-res icon of a mechanical wrench.

How to update or reinstall
- Download the latest Full Driver & Software Package or the Printer Driver & Software package for your exact model from Brother’s support site.
- Uninstall existing Brother printer software from Settings > Apps or Control Panel > Programs and Features (use Brother uninstaller if present).
- Restart the PC.
- Run the downloaded installer and follow prompts; connect the printer when instructed.
- Reboot if requested.
