Dvrg008ce Firmware: Better Full
DVrg008ce Firmware: A Comprehensive Overview
- The "Chinglish" Barrier: The interface translation is rough. Some menu items are straight gibberish, and others are in Chinese characters with no option to switch back to English in certain sub-menus. Be prepared to use Google Translate or guess what "Set Lock File" actually means.
- Date/Time Bug: The biggest annoyance is that the firmware seems to forget the date/time stamp every time the power is cut, despite having a supposedly working internal battery/capacitor. This is a common issue with these generic ROMs, but it's annoying to have to reset the clock every time I start the car.
- Generic Drivers: Because "dvrg008ce" is a generic OEM identifier, this firmware has drivers for several different image sensors (lenses). This meant my initial video quality was washed out. I had to manually dig into the configuration files to adjust the AWB (Auto White Balance) to get colors looking normal again.
