4. Method B: Manual DOS + HDD Regenerator (For older .exe or extracted files)

If you only have hddreg.exe (DOS executable) or a folder with HDDREG.EXE, HDDREG.CFG, etc. Download and install Rufus (free and portable)

  1. Download and install Rufus (free and portable).
  2. Insert your USB drive and open Rufus.
  3. Device – Select your USB drive.
  4. Boot selection – Choose "FreeDOS" or "MS-DOS."
  5. Partition scheme – MBR for BIOS or UEFI-CSM (if your PC supports legacy boot).
  6. Click "Start" to create the DOS bootable drive.
  7. After Rufus finishes, copy the entire HDD Regenerator folder (usually C:\Program Files\HDD Regenerator) to the root of the USB drive.
  8. Rename the main executable to AUTOEXEC.BAT so it launches automatically when booting, or simply run it manually from the DOS prompt.
