- YouTube 1080p60: 75-85% GPU usage, occasional frame drops
- YouTube 4K: Unwatchable (software decode, 100% CPU)
- Netflix 1080p (app): Smooth
- Local 4K file (HEVC): Drops to slideshow unless using hardware acceleration
- Dual external monitors (via USB-C): Possible but laggy; not recommended
After installation (performance tweaks):
- Disable visual effects – System Properties > Advanced > Performance > Adjust for best performance.
- Turn off Widgets & News – Right-click taskbar > Taskbar settings > disable Widgets.
- Disable startup apps – Task Manager > Startup.
- Use Edge or Firefox (lite mode) – Chrome is too heavy.
- Set power plan to “High performance” – prevents early CPU throttling (though battery suffers).
- Uninstall OneDrive, Teams, Xbox apps – via PowerShell.
- Boot times: With an NVMe or SATA SSD, Windows 11 boots in under 20 seconds. The OS is fully responsive within 45 seconds.
- UI & Animations: The new Start Menu, centered taskbar, and widgets open smoothly. There is no stutter in the basic interface thanks to the HD 615 graphics handling the new compositor.
- Web browsing: 5-8 Chrome/Edge tabs open simultaneously are fine. Heavy sites (YouTube, Reddit, Google Docs) are usable but will push the CPU to 70-90%.
- Office productivity: Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint fly. Outlook 365 is also fine. Zoom calls are stable, though the laptop may get warm (since the passive cooler has to work hard).
