Luka Chuppi is a Hindi-language romantic comedy film that emerged as one of the early sleeper hits of 2019. Plot: The movie tells the story of Shiva (played by Kartik Aaryan), who is a straightforward and bold man, and Dimple (played by Kriti Sanon), who is a beautiful and innocent girl. Shiva and Dimple fall in love, but their relationship hits a roadblock when Dimple's family comes to know about their affair. Dimple's family, particularly her father, is very conservative and traditional. To save Dimple from a marriage arranged by her family, Shiva comes up with a plan to pretend that they are not in a relationship. However, things get complicated when Dimple's family comes to know about their supposed breakup and starts pressuring Dimple to get married.

Luka Chuppi was a commercial success, proving that audiences were hungry for stories that blended local flavor with contemporary social issues. It solidified Kartik Aaryan’s status as a leading man in the rom-com genre and paved the way for more experimental family comedies in Bollywood.
