How to do it legally:

1. Deactivate on the old PC: Open SimHub on the old machine. Go to Settings > License and click "Deactivate License." This frees up your seat.
2. Re-download on the new PC: Go to the SimHub license portal on the new computer. Log in, click "Release" or "Generate for this device."
3. Download a new file: The portal will generate a fresh SimHub.license file for the new hardware.

• Use strong asymmetric cryptography (e.g., RSA/ECDSA) for signing.
• Keep personal data out of the file where possible; use opaque identifiers instead.
• Provide a clean, documented activation and transfer workflow.
• Offer offline grace periods but require occasional online verification.
• Log license verification events (locally) in a privacy-conscious way to aid diagnostics.
• Plan for future format changes with versioning metadata.

• Ensure you entered the key exactly (no extra spaces/newlines).
• Check system date/time—incorrect clock can break signature checks.
• If using a license file, ensure it’s in the correct folder and readable by your user account.
• Run SimHub as your regular user (avoid sandboxed locations).
