Despite their widespread use in government, healthcare, and corporate sectors, installation failures often stem from driver conflicts, service misconfigurations, or firmware incompatibility. This paper provides a systematic methodology for installing smart card readers across Windows, Linux, and limited macOS environments, focusing on driver architecture (CCID vs. proprietary), PC/SC stack management, and post-installation validation.
