The programming software for the Motorola EP350 MX series is officially known as the Customer Programming Software (CPS)

Programming Process:

  1. Install the CPS – Run setup.exe as administrator. If you have a cracked version, disable antivirus temporarily (again, high risk).
  2. Connect the radio – Turn off the EP350 MX. Plug the cable into the side microphone port. Turn radio on while holding the PTT and the top side button (some models require PTT + Monitor). The radio will display "PROG" (Program) on its small screen.
  3. Read from radio – Open CPS. Go to File > Read Device. Select the correct COM port. Click "Read." This downloads the existing codeplug.
  4. Edit frequencies – Navigate to "Conventional Personality" or "Channel Assignment." Enter your RX and TX frequencies, squelch type (CSQ, DPL, CDCSS), and time-out timer.
  5. Write to radio – After editing, click File > Write Device. The radio will reboot. Test all channels.

3. Firmware Mismatch Motorola released multiple firmware revisions for the EP350 MX. A free version from 2008 may not recognize a radio that was last serviced in 2015.
