Vichatter Captures
Vichatter Captures — Short Research Paper
Abstract
Vichatter is a class of covert, browser-based exfiltration techniques exploiting virtual input channels and web APIs to capture user interactions (keystrokes, clipboard, screen content) and transmit them to remote servers without explicit file access permissions. This paper surveys known attack vectors, architecture patterns, detection challenges, and mitigations for both web developers and defenders.
Step 2: Send DMCA Takedown Notices
If the capture includes an image or video that you created (e.g., a selfie), you own the copyright. Use the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) to file takedown requests with hosting providers, Google, and social media platforms. vichatter captures

Risks from metadata and technical leaks
- EXIF data: Original image files may contain timestamps, device models, and GPS coordinates. Always inspect and strip EXIF before sharing if privacy is a concern.
- Filenames and URLs: Filenames may include user IDs or host patterns that trace back to original upload sources.
- Referrer headers and embedded links: When accessing captures, external hotlinked media can leak IPs or session data; avoid loading external resources when preserving privacy.
- Timestamp correlation: Cross-referencing timestamps across captures and other public information can deanonymize posters.
Follower Growth: Captures act as "trailers" for a user's channel, helping them get more followers even when they aren't currently live.
